# Install

> Download Amgi, or build it and the amgi command from source.

**1. Download**

Get the `.dmg` from the
[latest release](https://github.com/alisheryeginbay/amgi/releases/latest).

**2. Install**

Open the `.dmg` and drag Amgi into Applications.

**3. Open a collection**

Press <kbd>⌘O</kbd> and pick a folder for your cards. See
[Introduction](/#a-collection-is-a-folder) for how it's laid out.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Amgi needs macOS 26 on Apple Silicon.

Amgi checks for new versions itself and installs them in one click; you can also choose
**Amgi ▸ Check for Updates…**.

## Build from source

Building needs macOS, Rust and [Bun](https://bun.sh).

```sh theme={null}
make                         # build what changed, then run the app
cargo install --path cli     # the amgi command
```
